The Macon Area
Transportation Study’s new Citizens Advisory Committee
didn’t get off to a blazing start this week. The group, often referred
to as MATS, was supposed to meet Wednesday but couldn’t
conduct an official meeting because it lacked a quorum,
with only six members attending. The committee is
supposed to have 21 members, but at least seven
positions still need to be filled by appointment. The group is supposed to
represent a diverse cross-section of the community,
advising MATS on transportation matters of public
interest. The committee was re-formed
because the overall MATS partnership was reorganized
with Macon and Bibb County consolidation. This time
around, the citizens advisory committee is comprised of
political appointees. |
