AN APPEAL FOR HELP FOR FRIENDS & NEIGHBORS OF FOREST HILL ROAD
The widening of Forest Hill Road from Vineville Avenue to Northside Drive (to as many as 6 and 8 lanes at some of the intersections) currently planned by Bibb County and the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will destroy OUR NEIGHBORHOOD as we know it. This road-widening project will IMPACT you on the adjoining streets. This is of great concern to many residents of FHR, as well as other concerned citizens of Macon who want road improvements, not neighborhood destruction. We are convinced that modifying GDOT’s present over-design is the only way we can preserve the neighborhood and protect the investment in our homes.
All residents on Forest Hill Road received a letter from Virgil Adams, attorney for the Bibb County Commission, announcing a mediation which will be held on February 28, 2008, at the Bibb County Courthouse. Judge Dorothy Beasly, retired from the Georgia Court of Appeals, will serve as the mediator. A small delegation has been selected to represent FHR residents and will present the neighborhood’s list of desired modifications to the proposed GDOT plans. We are letting you know that as a group, we only have one more opportunity to express our concerns and make an appeal.
Even though all Friends of Forest Hill Road and CAUTION Macon members work on a completely volunteer basis, and have donated their time, talents, and monies to this effort, we have incurred significant expenses seeking the advice of consultants and legal counsel. Since this is the last opportunity to make an appeal for modification to preserve our neighborhoods, we are asking for donations.
You can help make a difference, so please help us by making a tax-deductible contribution to CAUTION Macon, a 501(3)(c) tax–exempt, non-profit organization. Mark your check “For FHR Mediation” and mail to Mrs. Alice Boyd, FHR Treasurer, 540 Forest Hill Road, Macon, GA 31210. Any amount will help and will be appreciated.

Martin begs for money! |

Folks, I hate telemarketers, so
please don't put me in that category and I'm not good at
fundraising, but I'm doing what needs to be done and I hope I
won't offend anyone.
It's crunch time for Forest Hill
Road. The mediation is TWO WEEKS from today(2-14-08). We are
incurring expenses for open records request documents, consultations
with experts (very, very costly), copies, and postage, etc. If
you want to save the investment in your home, your beautiful
neighborhood and Macon's future, please contribute to the FHR expense
fund. If you have already sent a donation, thank you from
all of us. If you have pledged and have not yet sent your donation,
please do so asap. If you have not sent a donation, please consider
doing so. I don't like to beg, but FHR is a vital part of our city's
future sustainability. Please help by sending a donation of any amount
to FHR Mediation, c/o Alice Boyd, 540 Forest Hill Road, Macon, GA
31210. Make your checks out to CAUTION Macon. In the
"For_______________" section of your check write, "expenses for FHR
mediation." At your request, any money left over will be refunded
based on the proportionate percentage amount of your donation to the
total amount collected. You may also elect to leave it in the
general fund for future expenses connected to changing the
outrageous design of the I-16/I-75 boondoggle.
This will be my last plea. You
may call me or anyone listed below if you have questions.
